Clap Your Hands Say Yeah kondigt album ‘New fragility’ aan, luister twee nieuwe nummers ‘Hesitating nation’ en ‘Thousand Oaks’

Amerikaanse indierockband Clap Your Hands Say Yeah komt begin volgend jaar met nieuwe muziek. Op 29 januari verschijnt zesde plaat ‘New fragility’ via Secretly Canadian. Bij de aankondiging horen twee opvallend politiek geladen nummers ‘Hesitating nation’ en ‘Thousand Oaks’. Dat legt frontman Alec Ounsworth uit in een persbericht. “‘Hesitating nation’ is a song meant to convey my sense of disappointment and alienation with the rewarded mentality of getting ahead at all costs, inevitably to the detriment of those who didn’t sign up to be part of the experiment. ‘Thousand Oaks’ has to do with a shooting in Thousand Oaks, CA in 2018 which killed 13 people. The song is about the impotence of the American government in the face of such tragedies.” De band heeft een Europese tournee gepland om de plaat te promoten, en die wordt op 18 september afgetrapt in de Botanique in Brussel.
